Clarendon Hills Brookman Vineyard Syrah 2003
Wine EnthusiastSmells indescribably good, but it's hard to pick out specific scents-think instead of farmers' market of the freshest fruit. It's no slouch on the palate, either, where the impression is similarly seamless: In the mix you might discern a rainbow of just-ripe fruit, earth and wheat toast, for starters. It's balanced, restrained and pretty, and should stay that way through at least 2010.
Wine SpectatorFirm, with racy blackberry, spice and something like lime lingering in the background, finishing with refinement. Drink now through 2010. 800 cases made.
