Fisher Vineyards Lamb Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 1996

SKU 675

Nestled at the foot of the Palisades in Northern Napa Valley, the Lamb Vineyard has been a source of great pride for our family over the past quarter of a century. Named for Juelle's family, the vineyard was planted to Cabernet in 1982 and consistently yields small quantities of fruit that produce wine with a rare combination of rich concentrated flavors, velvet texture and elegance

Wine AdvocateThe powerful (14.1% alcohol) 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon Lamb Vineyard has been aged in barrel, of which 50% are new. Like all of Fisher's reds, it is bottled without filtration. The color is an opaque purple, and the wine is closed, offering hints of licorice, blueberries, black currants, and spicy oak. In the mouth, it is long, rich, restrained, with the tannin still making a noticeable impression, outstanding purity, a full-bodied mouth-feel, and superb potential. This wine requires another 4-5 years of cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2020.

Wine SpectatorDry, with herbal, cedary, earthy flavors and little in the way of ripe fruit. Ends the same way it begins--dry and tannic.
