Freemark Abbey Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
|Region||California, Napa Valley|
Opaque, dark ruby color introduces this wine that expresses dark fruit aroma and flavors. With spicy sweet oak complexity, the wine exudes dark fruit such as blackberry, black currant, blueberry and dark cherry. There are nuances of dark chocolate, chocolate berry truffle dusted with cocoa powder, cola, aromatic cedar, cinnamon, clove, graham crackers and a hint of tobacco. The body is very full with a soft entry, coupled with dark cherry/berry flavors that develop from start to finish. With great texture and mouth feel, this Cabernet is full-bodied, rich and opulent. In one word...delicious.
Freemark Abbey's 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is a gorgeous appellation-level wine. Freshly cut flowers, mint and sweet red/purplish berry fruit are all beautifully lifted. The 2017 is bright, energetic and full of character. Best of all, it's a fabulous value in high-end Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. I very much like the vibrancy here.
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley spent 27 months in French oak barrels, 37% new. Deep garnet-purple colored, it rolls out of the glass with notions of baked plums, boysenberries and crème de cassis with hints of sautéed herbs and tree bark. Medium-bodied, elegant and refreshing, the palate is packed with soft-textured, spicy fruit, finishing with a menthol lift. 20,200 cases were made.
