Girard Napa Valley Red 2002
|Region||California, Napa Valley|
A blend of all five Bordeaux varieties, this is a balanced, harmonious wine, although it’s light in flavor and soft texture for a Napa Cabernet-based claret. Because it’s not all that rich, it will do best against simpler fare, such as a standing rib roast or beef carpaccio.
Intense and concentrated, with a solid tannic backbone supported by a rich core of ripe currant, blackberry and black cherry fruit. Hints of anise and plum peek through at points and the finish returns to chewy tannins. Best from 2007 through 2011. 4,522 cases made.
