The 2004 displays a deep blackish crimson color accompanied by aromas of cassis, lavender and underbrush. The palate boasts excellent fruit purity; layers of blackberry, currant and red licorice intermix with earthy tones of espresso and fresh tobacco. Tannins are chewy and the finish long and slightly smoky.

Wine AdvocateA cuvee needing some bottle age is the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Stagecoach Vineyard. This broodingly backward, deep ruby/purple-hued effort gives up scents of crushed rocks, smoky oak, blackberries, and cassis. Powerful and rich with exceptional concentration and structure, it requires 2-3 years of cellaring, and should drink well over the next two decades or more.

Wine SpectatorVery ripe yet well-proportioned, with rich, zesty black cherry and wild berry fruit that's fleshy and opulent, turning elegant and refined. Best from 2008 through 2014.
