Pine Ridge Andrus Reserve 1998
Wine SpectatorA solid effort, dark, rich and chewy, with ripe plum and currant flavors that are firm and concentrated, with a touch of black cherry, sage and dust berry. Finishes with a rustic aftertaste. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Drink now through 2009. 700 cases made.
Wine AdvocatePine Ridge's flagship red wine offering, the 1998 Andrus Reserve (a proprietary blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot), exhibits a dense ruby/purple color as well as aromas of graphite, black currants, plums, and a touch of oak. Medium-bodied flavors reveal black fruits as well as a notion of chocolate. Aggressive tannin gives the wine an attenuated finish, thus precluding a higher rating. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2014.
