Rubicon is characterized by aromas of black sour cherries and violets. These flavors are confirmed on the palate with the addition of black currant, wild berries and sweet vanilla from aging in 100% new French oak barrels. There is an immediate sense of concentration on the mid palate with a luxurious and dense texture. This wine is approachable now, but is one for the cellar.

Wine EnthusiastThis is a lush wine. It's 95% Cabernet, with a few drops of Cab Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Distinctly Californian in the softness of tannins and low acidity, it's ready to drink now. The waves of cassis and notes of licorice, cola and new oak impress with their richness. However, this is the leanest Rubicon in years, missing the qualities of greatness. Drink now. 5,244 cases produced

Wine SpectatorMinty, herbal and lean, with underripe Cabernet flavors that turn austere and tannic, making this chewy and tough. Decant. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Best from 2008 through 2013. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.
