Marchesi de' Frescobaldi Giramonte 2004
|Brand||Marchesi de' Frescobaldi|
Wine SpectatorLots of blackberry and mint character. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long aftertaste of ripe fruit and toasty oak. Layered and intense, with plenty going on. Best after 2008. 800 cases made.
Wine AdvocateThe estate's 2004 Giramonte (80% Merlot and 20% Sangiovese) is a rich, weighty wine that offers the dark fruit and plushness of the former along with the underlying structure of the latter, with excellent length and fine overall balance. It saw 20 days of fermentation/maceration followed by malo in barrique, where the wine aged for 14 months prior to being bottled. The vines are still young and this is surely a wine to keep an eye on for the future. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019.
