Markham Reserve Merlot 1998
Somewhat herbal, with hints of blackberry, cherry and spice. The tannins are moderate, as is the finish, with a dash of pepper at the end.
Tough going, with oak holding the upper hand over fruit, which is weighed down by dusty, dry herbal and leathery flavors. Hints of currant and blackberry struggle for recognition. Drink now through 2005. 2,300 cases made.
