1994 is the third vintage of the century, following 1989 and 1982, when harvesting was completed in September. A deep garnet colour. A very fruity bouquet, perfumed and expressive. Round and unctuous in the mouth with tannin which is persistent without being aggressive. Powerful and well-balanced. Wine SpectatorOutstanding quality for the vintage. A full-bodied Bordeaux that offers wonderful aromas of tobacco, berry and cedar, loads of refined tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Better from 2000.

Wine AdvocateCos d'Estournel's unfiltered 1994 is one of the top wines of the vintage. It boasts an opaque blue/black/purple color, as well as a fabulously sweet nose of black fruits, licorice, pain grillee, and Asian spices. Full-bodied, with sweet, opulent fruit that reveals none of the vintage's tough tannin, this remarkably rich, well-balanced, classic wine will prove to be uncommonly long-lived. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2025. Cos d'Estournel is clearly producing wines that are often of first-growth potential.
