Aromas of boysenberry syrup with hint of licorice follow through to a full body, with a dense palate and slightly chewy tannins. Juicy wine, with a slightly rustic edge. But I like it.
The potential for a juicy, fruity wine lurks here beneath the youthful, extracted tannins. The wine certainly has density, with its rich structure coming through strongly. However, it needs aging over at least 10 years.
A big, chunky, somewhat corpulent wine with delicious black currant and black cherry fruit intermixed with some damp earth, truffle and forest floor, this 2009 is round, medium to full-bodied, dark plum/purple, and best drunk over the next 10-12 years.
