Chateau Rouget Pomerol 2009
|Region||France, Bordeaux, Pomerol|
Wine EnthusiastThis rounded wine is dense, with firm tannins that are well molded into its sweet-tasting structure. Packed with ripe fruit, this will age relatively quickly, giving pleasure in 5-6 years.
Wine AdvocateThis opulent, sexy 2009 Rouget is composed of primarily Merlot blended with a touch of Cabernet Franc. Sandy, loamy soil notes interwoven with kirsch and Provencal garrigue jump from the glass of this full-bodied, opulent, rich Pomerol. Abundant fruit on the attack, mid-palate and finish characterize this over-achiever. Consume it over the next 15 years.
Wine SpectatorCoffee and tobacco flavors are brooding and slightly bitter in this austere red. Smoky and gamy notes dominate modest plum fruit. There's solid structure, but this is a bit rustic. Drink now through 2019.
