The varietal 2019 Catena Chardonnay is serious, dry and very tasty, showing harmonious and balanced with a lively palate that reveals citrus freshness and a twist reminiscent of orange peel in the finish that I like very much. It's subtle and elegant and very affordable. 276,000 bottles were filled in February 2020.

When mixing terroirs in Mendoza, winemakers typically look to include the best that each has to offer. The 2019 Chardonnay Catena combines grapes from Gualtallary & Villa Bastías in Tupungato, El Cepillo in San Carlos and Agrelo in Luján de Cuyo; it is a vivid vindication of that strategy. Well-ripened, it offers penetrating pear and green apple aromas over a solid bed of herbs and oak, with hints of vanilla, hazelnut and caramel. Gentle but commercial with a velvety texture and taut, lively acidity, it's everything you could ask for from a New World Chardonnay.
