Deep black in colour with a red edge, the bouquet is still quite closed but displays aromas of dusted berry, lead pencil, cooked meats, scorched earth, fresh wet clay and cherry. The palate is coating and concentrated and starts out with a lovely rolling sweetness and builds into a very soft and fruit filled tannin. This wine displays a solid core built around a very soft and elegant frame work. I am inspired by this wine as it shows another dimension of what can be achieved with Shiraz in Australia

Wine SpectatorDefinitely on the tart side, with raging acidity against plum and prune flavors, finishing with a freshness that's tremendously appealing and should develop well with cellaring. Best from 2007 through 2015.

Wine AdvocateMoving up in price as well as quality are the firm's regional expressions of Shiraz, all of which can be unhesitatingly recommended. From Heathcote, the 2004 Shiraz Max's Garden is Two Hands' most restrained, European-styled Shiraz. It possesses firm tannin along with hints of wet stone overlaid with red and black fruits, and good acidity.
