Structured, complex wine that is only just beginning to hint at considerable depth of powerful, rich flavors. The structure is dry, a little lean, but with dense tannins. The fruit, rich plums and stone fruits is just coming through. Age for 10 years.

Panascal is a Quinta that is blended to make Fonseca. A very conservative nose with blackberry, black coffee and just a hint of orange blossom. Moderate definition on the ripe, fleshy palate, which is surprisingly soft, and supple, overtly expressive at this early stage. Cherry, ripe strawberry and yet again a tang of blood orange and a dash of white pepper on the finish. Drinking 2010-2025. Tasted July 2007.
