Argiano's Brunello di Montalcino is distinguished by its elegance and its deep ruby red colour. It presents a good concentration on the mid-palate and a persistent aftertaste, with a rounded and voluptuous body, and interesting, silky tannins. It unites potency and elegance and looks like having a promising future. With its tempting perfumes of red berries and its clean freshness, the complexity of this wine presents an excellent balance. To fully appreciate its qualities, decant the wine at least one hour before serving.

Argiano's 2014 Brunello di Montalcino is visibly thinner and leaner compared to any other past vintage that comes to mind. The aromas are stripped down as well, but I do think there is a good chance that they will flesh out with more time in the bottle. Brunello tends to be at its thinnest drinking point upon its initial commercial release. Another 12 months should be of considerable help and I don't reject the idea that this wine will take on more volume in as little as 6 to 12 months.

Good medium red-ruby. Redcurrant, spices, tobacco and a suggestion of vanilla plus candied fruits on the nose. An earthy and spicy midweight with savory dark plum and redcurrant flavors complicated by licorice and menthol on the nicely persistent finish. This turns a bit dry on the back end, with the rising tannins becoming a bit tough.

Light-bodied and lacy, this red offers cherry, strawberry and sweet spice flavors, with hints of earth, iron and tobacco. Balanced, with a moderately long finish. Drink now through 2028.

Aromas of coconut, French oak and red berry carry over to the rather lean palate along with dried sour cherry, espresso and exotic spice. Bright acidity and dusty, drying tannins provide the setting.
