Rozes Vintage Port 2017

Packed with ripe black fruits, the wine also has freshness and great acidity. Behind all this are immense tannins, rich fruit and a solid potential. This is going to be a sweeter style, ripe with concentrated luscious black fruits. Drink from 2028.

The 2017 Vintage Port is mostly a 40/35 blend of Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional with 15% Sousão, plus miscellaneous others, unoaked and coming in with 103 grams of residual sugar. Showing the intensity of flavor that so many 2017s have, this also tightens rapidly on the finish. It's long and pretty, a focused Port that might be accessible young, but it will certainly develop well. Hold this aromatic, fresh and flavorful Port for a decade if you can. It's not a significant improvement on some other years. Here, with the regular Vintage Port, I liked some of the other vintages better, whereas I preferred the 2017 Grifo (the sister wine, separately listed) by a fair margin. There were 50,000 liters produced.
