Fragrant dark red and black fruits set the stage for the exotic interplay of aromatic woods, bow rosin and sharpened graphite. On the palate, a medley of black raspberry, blackcurrant and cranberry fill a warm graham cracker crust drizzled with nearly-molten brown sugar and flecked with dark chocolate. Like a chiseled and sinuous boxer sitting in his corner, the youthful and deep 2013 Staglin Cabernet is a wine of controlled power, poised while waiting to showcase its long, silky and fine-grained structure. Your patience will be immensely rewarded.
Wine Advocate

The Staglins' flagship wine is the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon from their holdings in Rutherford, in the foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains. This wine has an opaque purple color and a stunning nose of blackcurrants, licorice, violets and background oak. It is full-bodied and intensely rich, with sweet tannin and a long finish. Look for it to drink well for 30-40+ years.

Solidly packed, but with a fresh edge to the mix of loganberry, cassis and plum preserves. Shows a sleek, gently singed vanilla frame, with a nice lingering note of tobacco through the finish. Blind 2013 California Cabernet retrospective (February 2023). Drink now through 2035. 2,370 cases made.
