Carpineto Brunello di Montalcino 2013
|Italy, Tuscany, Brunello di Montalcino
Classic Sangiovese aromas of violet, wild berry, baking spice and a whiff of new leather meld together on this. The structured full-bodied palate delivers black cherry, crushed raspberry, clove and star anise set against firm acidity and a backbone of tightly wound tannins that grip the finish. Drink 2023-2033.
A fleshy style whose richness offsets the leafy tannins, paving the way for cherry, almond, leather and iron notes. Finishes dry, with length and grip. Best from 2021 through 2035. 2,850 cases made, 950 cases imported.
Carpineto's 2013 Brunello di Montalcino is bright and fruit-forward. The aromas are lively and buoyant with ripe cherry and cassis at the front. The bouquet is very attractive indeed, but this mid-weight wine is short and less impactful in terms of mouthfeel. Still, this is an accessible Brunello to pair with roast ham or pork. Some 18,000 bottles were made.
