The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Blueline Estate comes from clones 338 and 337 and has beautiful Cabernet character in its blue fruits, graphite, crushed flowers, and rocky minerality. Nicely structured, medium to full-bodied, and with subtle oak, it's a beautiful, classic wine from this estate that's going to evolve for upwards of two decades.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Blueline Estate, made of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot and 5% Malbec, sings of warm blackberries, cassis and wild blueberries with hints of plum preserves, menthol, stewed tea and tobacco plus a touch of underbrush. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers bags of expressive black fruits, framed by grainy tannins and oodles of freshness, finishing long and earthy.

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Blueline is lifted and perfumed, but also lacks its customary depth and structure. This is a good example of a 2017 that lacks mid-palate richness. Even so, winemaker Tony Biagi has done a terrific job in polishing the tannins, which gives the wine so much of its considerable allure.
